I just spent the summer studying at NTNU's Mandarin Training Center and I could not have found a more conveniently located apartment. It is literally right above a MRT (subway) entrance, 5 mins walk to the Shida night market, and 10 mins walk to NTNU Mandarin Training Center. The apartment complex is clean with an elevator (believe me this is a god-send in the Taiwanese summer heat) and a doorman so very safe. You have a private bathroom with a shared kitchen. The room itself is small but has air conditioning, a bed, desk, bookshelf and hanging space. For the price you will honestly not find anything better! I highly recommend it.

I came across a notice for Ms.Chen's apartment at Siyuan Jie while searching for summer accommodations in Taipei. The apartment was ideally located for my purposes, steps away from the main entrance of NTU and even closer to the Gongguan MRT station. The building itself is clean, secure, and well maintained (I even noted that the carpet in the elevator was removed daily to be laundered!).
My room was well appointed with all of the necessities that one could hope for example storage space, a writing desk, comfortable bed, high-speed internet access, and (most important of all for summer in Taiwan) a wall mounted air conditioner unit. The view of the lush greenery of NTU's campus, Taipei's iconic 101 building, and rolling hills in the distance is also worth mentioning. In addition to the pleasant view, the 9th floor location of the apartment allows for far less street noise than one would be subjected to at ground level.
Finally, I found Ms.Chen to be more than generous with her time, escorting me on various "settling in" errands such as purchasing a cell phone and exchanging currency. I've rented many apartments in my time and have never encountered such a gracious and helpful landlord. I heartily recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in the NTU area for business or study.

My living experience at Apt #1:
I have made the right decision in choosing this apartment via email without even having taken a look at the apartment in person. Back in Switzerland, I was already looking for a convenient one-bedroom apartment near Shi Da University with the possibility for a short-term stay of 3 months from June to August. Luckily, Shu-I, the landlady, was kind enough to prepare the contract before my arrival and let me reserve the room. On the day of my arrival, the lease signing process went very smoothly without any delay. I have to add that Shu-I is a very nice, reliable and punctual person.
After having lived here for several months, I can say that the quality and comfort of this room has fully met my expectations .This furnished one-bedroom apartment is very bright, clean and has it all! It comes with cable Internet, AC, a single bed, a wardrobe, a chair, a writing desk with shelves, a private bathroom and also a shared kitchen and a refrigerator. On top of that, the presence of an apartment security guard and the fact the elevator can only be run with an electronic key, highly add to the security and safety of living in this building.
Probably the most important reason to choose this apartment is the perfect location with its close proximity to all the public facilities, transportation, services and amenities that ensure a comfortable living. Literally next to the apartment you find a metro station ( Taipower Building Station Exit 4), while within walking distance you can reach a supermarket, convenient stores, a gym, a laundry self-service, mobile phone operator shops, numerous bars and restaurants, the infamous Shi-Da night market and of course the Shi-Da University.
All in all, I have enjoyed a wonderful living experience here and would definitely want to live here again.

I am reviewing Apt. #4 but based on my impression, I am convinced that the other apartments are all really great deals!
The apartment is very close to Tai-Da which has a beautiful campus, a good asset whether or not you attend. I am currently attending Shi-Da, and the apartment is a leisurely walk away from the school (20 minutes is the longest it has taken me, including stopping for a drink). Other people in my class have cited numbers for their apartments between 5 and 20 kilometers away from the university.
The price is a steal for what the apartment includes: my own room with plenty of storage space, plenty of space period, a desk for schoolwork, a bathroom which I share with a couple very nice roommates, a place to hang drying clothes, a nice entryway, and a place to put trash in the building (I was surprised how difficult it is to find public trash cans here!). If I forgot something that is an amenity, it is probably included.
Not only is Ms. Chen an extremely accommodating landlady, but also her assistant is very nice and has showed me various good places to eat here, and practices Chinese with me.
I saw other apartments for all kinds of prices and most of them seemed to be either unsafe and cheap or unfair for what they were charging.
Here is a convenient apartment near the Gongguan MRT station at which you will feel safe and comfortable for a very reasonable price; do not hesitate to rent here! I personally will probably rent with Ms. Chen every time I come to Taiwan in the future.

I am so lucky to have found this apartment for multiple reasons. Since I went to school at ShiDa, the location could not have been better. The 5-10 minute walk to and from class saved me a lot of time and hassle that I know other students had to deal with on a daily basis. Transportation was a breeze since I lived only 10 steps away from the MRT station and across the street from a bus stop. Being in such close proximity to the night market (where there are hundreds of food choices) meant that I never grew bored of eating nearby. The apartment itself offered everything I needed to live comfortably. The security is tight, so I never felt unsafe living on my own. However, this apartment offered more to me than just convenient living- it gave me an immediate sense of community. My flatmate was more than someone I shared an apartment with. We became good friends and would go hiking together (with one of Shu-I’s other tenants) on the weekends. Shu-i is a hospitable and reliable landlord, and sometimes I met up with her or her other tenants outside of school. It really felt like a community, making living in Taiwan easy!

In this paper I will briefly tell you about my experience of living at: No.100 Roosevelt Rd, sec. 3, Taipei City.
The #1 reason that I love this place would have to be its location. To be honest, it’s hard to find a better location than this in Taipei city. After leaving the house you will immediately see the entrance to the Tai Power MRT station, this is especially great when it is raining outside, since the entrance is less than 20 meters from your door. This MRT station is centrally located enabling you to arrive at Taipei Main Station within minutes, which makes travelling around the city very convenient and cheap.
Besides the MRT, the apartment is also close to Shida-University. Even if you do not study there, the surrounding area is very interesting since there are many small restaurants, street vendors and shops. And when you are not willing to walk that far, there is still the trustworthy 7-11 and wellcome around the corner.
When it comes to the services in the apartment complex, I can only say good things about it. I really like the fact that there is a security guard checking who goes in and out of the building. This made me feel a lot more at ease. Also the fact that I there is a central place for putting garbage made life easier. This because I did not need to go downstairs and chase the garbage truck whenever I needed to drop my garbage.
My opinion concerning the apartment itself is also positive. The room is clean and lets in a good amount of sunlight during the day. On warmer days the air conditioner is also a big plus, since it make the temperature in the room drop quickly in a matter of minutes. I also had my own bathroom, which I liked.
I also want to add that the assistant of Ms. Chen was a very nice and polite lady with whom I sometimes chatted to when time allowed. Last but not least, I am happy that Ms. Chen was my landlady. She has been very helpful and kind.

"I've got to say, I've thoroughly enjoyed living in this apartment for the past six months! The apartment is just the perfect size for one person without getting cramped and its compact size makes for super easy cleaning. The apartment comes with air-con, a mini-fridge, an optional stove, a bed, a desk, shelves, internet connection via cable, a large cabinet, and a view of mountains in the distance. The guards downstairs are friendly and I really feel safe in this neighborhood.
Since it's situated between Taida (NTU) and Shida (NTNU) Universities, it’s obvious how awesome this location is for a student like me. I can literally be at Shida everyday in 15 minutes, on foot without stress. There’s also the Shida Night Market close by where I go to eat and hang out with friends at its many and varied restaurants at night and buy fruit and vegetables in the morning. If you want something more than Shida's surroundings, Taida is just down the road. There you will find Gongguan Night Market with even more selection. If you want to go to other places in the city it’s no problem at all. You practically fall out of your front door and there’s the MRT Metro (Taipower Building Station Exit 4). It’s really convenient and I use it to get everywhere. If you’re not a fan of the MRT there’s a bus stop right across the street. The coin operated laundromat, a church, and a small gym are also literally right across the street. Basically, if you rent this apartment, you almost won’t need to use your legs because everything’s so darn convenient.
However, better than this apartment’s prime location and other positive qualities has to be the landlady, Shu-I. She welcomed me like family and invited me out to meals. She even hosted a birthday dinner for me and my friends at her house on my first birthday away from home. On top all that she is punctual and professional, easy to get along with and is an incredibly interesting lady.
In the end, I think this apartment was exactly what I was looking for. It should be a great fit for students, travelers, or anyone else looking for a great, convenient apartment. I will definitely rent this apartment again the next time I’m visiting Taipei." -Shea

I stayed n Chen Shu-I's place for a month and had a great time. Everything you can ask for, including nice flatmates. It was exactly what I was looking for: The right mixture of family life and freedom, you never feel lonely, but never observed either.
Shu-I's is a great flatmate and landlord, very flexible and considerate, no wish from your side that you cannot discuss with her.
The apartment is conveniently located in the Taida-Area, just a few steps away from the night market and student life. Everything is clean and neat.

The comfortable atmosphere and value would be enough of a reason to rent this apartment, however it's main selling point is its incredible location - a 5-minute walk from Taida, Gongguan MRT and more resturants than you can think of! Not to mention that it is steps away from Taipower and Gongguan Bus Terminals and 5-minute bus ride or a simple 15 to 20-minute walk to NTNU MTC at Shida University passing Shida Market.
A nice bonus is the amazing landlady who will help you settle in and make you feel like you are at home. I had a wonderful time staying here in the past three months. - Martin

I had an amazing time living in Ms. Chen's apartment! I was there for about 2 1/2 months this past summer and I can say without a doubt that it's been the easiest renting experience I've ever had. First, it's in a great location. I was here doing research and had to travel all over the city for interviews. It's only a 5 minute walk from the MRT and a huge bus terminal from which you can easily get to the places the metro doesn't reach. The area itself, situated right next to Taida, is also really fun. It's got a cool college feel to it and is full of students and great places to eat.
In addition to the location, the apartment itself is great. It's fully furnished, clean, and has a nice view. The landlady, herself, lives in the apartment when she's not renting it out, so she's very keen on keeping it in top shape. She was extremely friendly and was always willing to lend out things like irons or kitchen utensils that I didn't think to bring out along. The building is also quite secure and I found the neighbors very friendly.
This was my second time renting in Taiwan and I'd recommend this room without any reservations. I've had several friends tell me horror stories about renting in Taiwan and having all sorts of problems with power outages, difficult landlords, and unreturned deposits. They all give me dirty looks when I tell them what a great experience I had in comparison!

"I have been living in this apartment for only two weeks, yet am already satisfied with its compact size, location and price. Since it is located right next to the MRT Taipower station and minutes away from the Shida Night Market, I can travel to work as conveniently as possible and come home to a neighborhood bustling full of food and shopping. I would like to endorse Ms. Chen's apartment at the above address for three main reasons: facilities, location, and hospitality. To start with the facilities, the bedroom has been refurnished recently, with new paint, new furniture, new linen and window dressing, and plenty of storage space. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom, with hot and cold water running 24 hours, and was cleaned every day. Since I preferred natural ventilation I did not have to use the air conditioner often, but the in-room air-con is also brand new. In addition to the excellent physical condition of the room, I'd like to add security from the main building entrance gate to the bedroom, each door has its own key to ensure the safety and the privacy of the tenant. Finally, I must mention that the view from the window is magnificent. You can see the palm-tree lined NTU entrance and the 101 building.
The second reason is the location. The apartment is only 5 minutes away from MRT Gongguan, as well as 10 minutes away from Taipei Power Building bus station. Since I had to go to the downtown area almost every day, the fact that the apartment was only 20 minutes away from the Taipei Main Station by public transportation was very helpful. In addition, the NTU campus is within walking distance, and once I found the bus route to National Chengchi University I found the two university campuses to be very accessible.
Finally, my sincere thanks goes to the landlady (and her family's) hospitality. As it was my first time in Taiwan, Ms. Chen made me feel very much at home, and showed me how to get around the apartment area. I accidentally injured my arm toward the end of my stay, and I could not have asked for a friendlier landlady, from allowing me to borrow her kitchen utensils, using the refrigerator to store fruit, to offering her landline in case my parents called me from abroad.

You would be hard-pressed to find a better deal! 3 reasons: (1) Location. 8 minute stroll to shida university, 4 minute stroll to shida night market, on top of taipower mrt station (just 4 stops from taipei main station). (2) Full-service apartment. Your personal, private bathroom with hot water, kitchen with gas stove and fridge, newly installed air-conditioner, broadband internet. (3) Great landlady. Intelligent, dynamic and chic, she is attentive to our needs and goes out of the way to make sure we feel at home.
We have seen a few other rooms/apartments which cost more, yet offer less. Trust me, you do not want to miss this opportunity!
